IT Support and AV Technician

The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art is currently accepting resumes and applications for the part-time position of IT Support and AV Technician. This position will work closely with the Director of Technology to provide desk top support to all computer users and systems throughout the museum such as end user accounts, exchange email accounts, voicemail, internet, databases, etc. This position will also work with the Building Rental & Events as well as curatorial exhibitions for any audio visual equipment and system needs. JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:                                 IT Support and AV Technician

DEPARTMENT:                           Finance/Administration

STATUS:                                     Non-Exempt – Part Time (24 – 29 hours per week)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:      Director of Technology

EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED:      0

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related experience. 5 years of help desk or desktop support experience supporting users in a Windows network environment.
  • Excellent computer skills and problem-solving skills with ability to quickly troubleshoot, diagnose and provide solutions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems, VOIP systems, Microsoft Office software, Active Directory and Exchange required. Along with The ability to learn and support new software applications.
  • Install and maintain network equipment, wiring and various devices.
  •  Knowledge of electronics and audio visual systems with ability to install, operate, diagnose and correct media system problems.
  • Must have a strong dedication to customer service.
  • Work and communicate with a wide range of people including clients, vendors, the public and  staff members
  • Consistently demonstrate professional, positive, and approachable attitude/demeanor and discretion. Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information
  •  Detail oriented with the ability to work well under pressure, and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to kneel, crouch, lift and move computer and audio visual equipment

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide help desk support to end users on a variety of hardware and software related issues, responding in a timely manner to telephone calls, email and verbal requests for technical support.   Work effectively with outside technology consultants to resolve issues.
  2. Install and configure new computers and laptops as they are purchased, repair and upgrade existing computers as required including operating system and software upgrades.   Also identify and repair or coordinate repairs to printers, copiers, scanners, and other technology equipment and software in the museum’s network.
  3. Maintain user accounts, exchange mailboxes and Assist with VoIP system changes.
  4. Provide computer and phone training for all new employees, interns and volunteer
  5. Set up and operate audio visual equipment for meetings, programs and special events. Provide onsite technical support to staff and facility rental clients as needed including   after-hours or weekend coverage if required.   Work in coordination with the building rental/special events manager to coordinate audio visual needs for upcoming meetings and events.
  6. Participate in appropriate exhibition team meetings and planning activities that involve technology installations in the museum galleries/special exhibitions to provide technical expertise and obtain installation requirements; and install audio visual and other technology equipment that will be used in museum galleries and exhibitions, working with the curatorial department to ensure timely and proper installation according to exhibition or gallery specifications.  Ability to request contracted assistance with supervisor approval.
  7. Make regular checks of the audio visual equipment that is installed throughout the museum, including public areas, exhibitions and galleries, to ensure that it is all fully functional during normal operating hours; and perform routine cleaning and maintenance on all audio visual equipment as needed, and coordinate repairs/replacement of equipment that is not working properly. 
  8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory of all computers, printers, software and audio visual equipment.   Regularly stock and order AV consumables, such as LCD projector lamps, etc.
