ALL IN THE FAMILY | Katie and Gavin's beautiful Eiteljorg wedding

With 15 years of event planning experience, I rarely have a “first” anymore but I can honestly say that I have never had a wedding vendor list made up entirely of family.
I first met Katie and her mom in January and immediately connected with Katie’s witty sense of humor and her mom’s gentle, loving, personality. Mrs. Trotta had a lot on her plate as she had not one, but two daughters that were getting married in 2014. I made it my mission to convince them that every detail would be treated with the highest priority and that I would do my very best to fulfill all of Katie’s wishes.

A few months before the October wedding I had the pleasure of meeting and working with their planner and dear family friend, Katie Soffietti. With two type A planners involved I knew we had all of our bases covered.

Katie and Gavin knew from the get-go that they wanted a ceremony indoors and in doing so made orchestrating the lighting, staging, and sound a piece of cake. This is where her brother Mike came in. He and his team from Stage Tech Inc. did a phenomenal job of lighting the ballroom, ceremony, and outdoor gardens. Katie’s sister,

Anne Marie Carson, was amazing at capturing all the special moments and details of the day.  DJ Ryan Hickey, Katie’s cousin, orchestrated the evenings’ activities while keeping the guests on their feet all night long.

It seemed that everything was personalized and had been touched in some way by family.

My favorite piece was the altar table. Katie’s family cut a tree down on their property and fashioned it into a table that would be used for the alter during the ceremony.

It was gorgeous  -- and now Katie and Gavin have a piece of furniture in their home they can cherish and pass on to future generations. It truly was a pleasure getting to work with such a fun and loving family.

Our small nonprofit, the Inuit Art Society, held our annual meeting and Inuit art sale at the Eiteljorg that same weekend.  The Eiteljorg event staff and Kahn's catering did an amazing job making us feel equally welcome and festive while keeping our smaller and more modest celebration out of the way of this gorgeous wedding. Congratulations to all.
