Artist in Residence, Dawn Dark Mountain (Oneida of Wisconsin)

  • Date(s):  September 20, 2014 – October 04, 2014
  • Time:  1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

An Oneida artist specializing in transparent watercolors, Dawn works with Woodland subject matter and ideas.  In 2006, she designed a Pendleton blanket for the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin called “Land of the Oneida." In 2011, she designed a child-sized blanket for Pendleton featuring the creation story image of “Sky Woman."  Dawn has also been experimenting with painting “outside the box,” creating work extending beyond the painting’s surface.  In addition to her paintings, Dawn creates linoleum and wood block prints that are then completed with watercolor.

You can meet Dawn and learn about her art, culture, and watch as she demonstrates watercolor techniques on two Saturdays in September including, Sept. 20, 27 & October 4 from 1 - 4 p.m.
