WHAT:           Virtual Restoration demonstration
This demonstration will introduce an interactive display that virtually restores a museum artifact through visual illusion using projectors of digitally-controlled light. Additionally, guests will have the unique opportunity to compare and analyze the artifact in its current condition and then view it in one of several possible “restored” states.

WHEN:          Tuesday, April 14 at 2 p.m.

WHERE:       500 W. Washington St. Indianapolis

PHOTO OPS/INTERVIEWS:
·        Participants from the Museums and the Web conference will be at the museum while Daniel Aliaga, Purdue University, will be demonstrating the virtual restoration on an object from the Eiteljorg Museum’s collection.
·        The object will be virtually restored to what it may have looked like at the time it was made by projecting light onto the object and filling in any imperfections as well as recreating designs that may have been on the object.
·        The object will be a Southwestern Native American pot.
·        Aliaga will be available to talk about the technical aspects of the project.
·        Larry Zimmerman, Eiteljorg Museum, and Richard McCoy, Indianapolis Museum of Art, will be available to speak about the object and what this project could mean to museums in the future.
